About me
My name is Liesbeth Puts and I am a certified cat behaviorist.
I have loved animals all my life. When I was a small child, I would go on endless walks with my dad and he would teach me about the plants and birds we saw. I also fed stray cats in our village. Since 1976 cats have been a permanent part of my life.
I graduated as a social psychologist at the University of Utrecht. About twenty years ago Cleo came into my life, a terrified kitty from the local shelter. She was so different from her good-natured, social and relaxed predecessor, that I was immediately fascinated by her behavior. Ultimately this led to the decision to become a cat behaviorist. I finished the Tinley Academy “cum laude” in 2008 and have been certified since 2010.
Every student wanting to graduate from Tinley Academy must do research on an aspect of cat behavior of their own choice. I looked at the “chattering” of cats, that typical behavior that many cats exhibit when they see birds. You can find a short summary of my research here.
For ten years I worked at a local shelter for stray cats and kittens, such a valuable experience!
In 2012 I started blogging and since 2014 I regularly publish blogs on my Dutch website. My first book in Dutch appeared in 2015, a guide on raising kittens. In 2019 my second book followed, which is now translated in English and available on the American market!
